We all loved them, listened to them more times than we can could count and still cant help but bust a move when you hear them played. The problem is, they are the only one of their kind! One hit wonders people…on the top one day, non-existent the next! My top three…
1.
1. THE MACARENA
Los Del Rio, 1996
The ever popular (but actually pretty lame) dance to this day fills the dance floor with repetitive fun. This Los Del Rio single became the second longest running #1 and best single debut of all time in the U.S.
2. ICE ICE BABY
Vanilla Ice, 1990
Every time this song comes on I cant resist the urge to do a little jig. Sparking controversy with the uncanning resemblance to the tune in “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie, “Ice Ice Baby” still triumphed to become the second rap single to ever hit the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
3. 3. MICKEY
Toni Basil, 1982
Another uncontrollable toe-tapper for me, “Mickey” was originally named “Kitty” until Basil’s crush on a Monkey during her work as a choreographer/dancer of the 1968 movie changed the name to better suit her feelings. AND I LOVE this video:)
